Imaging Week 1

Imaging is the class oriented towards the representation of our ideas, thoughts, or any other specific thing through digital art work using different softwares.

Graphics are of two kinds: Raster and Vector.

Raster is based on the the unit known as pixels, eg: GIF, JPG, TIF tec. Vector is based on complex mathematical equations eg: PDF, .AI . The image quality of Vector is better as when one stretches the raster based image, the image gets blurred due to the extra stretching of the pixels.

We also learned about the two color modes: RGB and CMYK. The former is used for digital media while the latter concerns printing. DPI/PPI is the setting affecting the number of dots/pixels per inch. Higher the concentration of pixels, better is the clarity of the image. This needs to be altered according to the requirement of the image, the minimum and standard DPI count is 300 DPI.
