Integrative Studio Week 1

Lines and Circles

A new way to express my emotions learned. After the seminar class, in continuation to the topic reflection, in this class i learned a beautiful way of expressing my emotions, thoughts, perspectives and everything i own through a composition made of lines and circles.

To give the class a little inspiration and motivation, we were shown a TedX video, “You are fluent in this language(and don’t even know it)”. by the llustrator Christopher Neimann. This video gave us a batter understanding of what we were learning, that a drawing does not only communicate image but can also evoke emotions. Visuals are more than just graphic representation, all of them hold a deep meaning that they carry with themselves.

Later then, we were asked to construct 6 compositions on 5 different topics each using the same concept.

My Happy Place.
My thoughts when i look out of the window.
A word to describe my best friend – confidant.
Highlights of the journey to the school that day.
State of my mind in the morning.

At first, this seemed to be quite easy and i expected it to be a quick task while later i learned how intense this work was. Firstly, you have to decide what emotion or feeling you actually want to express and then just try and try and try until you are satisfied with your own work and yes, only if you get the approval too.
