Week 13 – Prototypes.

After figuring out 3 different ways for prototypes for 3 different gestures, here are the practical experiments done on the prototypes. Three different gestures were: 1) Hand on the waist. 2) Interlocked hands. 3) Karate hand repelling.

Prototypes for the first one : Hand on the waist.

1. Resist: The empty circular space is where the waist of the second participant will come. The sponge attached to the elastic resists the hand of the first participant to get in contact with the second participant’s waist.
2. Assist: The smaller band is for hand of the first participant and the bigger band is the belt for the second participant’s waist. So the belt system assists the contact between the hand and the waist when the end of the belt is pulled.
3. Resist: The empty circular space is where the waist of the second participant will come. The lower part of the plastic bottle attached to the elastic resists the hand of the first participant to get in contact with the second participant’s waist.

Prototypes for the second one: Interloacked hands.

1. Resist: I was asked to make this one only for one hand. The straws attached resists the contact between the hand and any other substance.
2. Assist: The empty band is where the second participant’s hand comes. The magnet attracts towards each other and thus it assists the contact between the hands.
3. Assist and Resist: The empty band is where the second participant’s hand comes. The circular blockage resists the contact between the palms while assists the contact between the interlocked fingers.

Prototype for the third one: Karate hand repelling

1. 2. Assist: The empty band is where the second participant’s hand comes. The magnet attracts towards each other and thus it assists the contact between the hands.
2. Resist: The empty band is where the second participant’s hand comes. The straws attached resists the contact between the hands.
3. 3. Assist and Resist: The empty band is where the second participant’s hand comes. The circular blockage resists the contact between the hands of the two participants.
